Dr. Md. Ataur Rahman received Ph.D from Nagoya University, Japan in the year 2005. He is currently Head of the Department for Water Resources Engineering at Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET). Dr. Md. Ataur Rahman published various papers in Journals and Conference Proceedings. He worked as a member of the Technical Committee for Master Plan of the Development of Hoar Area formed by Bangladesh Hoar Development Board. July 2011 to Mar 2012, Member of an Investigation Committee formed by Bangladesh Water Development Board, Government of the Peoples Republic of Bangladesh to investigate the failure of newly constructed bank protection works on the right bank of Ganges River at Faridpur . May - July 2009, Member of the Inter-ministerial Enquiry Committee formed by the Ministry of Water Resources, Government of the Peoples Republic of Bangladesh to investigate the site selection and construction of three coastal landing stations (Cox's Bazar, Monpura and Sandwip) constructed by Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Authority (BIWTA).
